Bonjour~

Watched this over the weekend...& its an instant favourite! If you like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind(which is by the same director), then you will love this show. Innocent, trippy, simple, creative & raw - the mix for a charming movie.

I did some research on the director, Michel Gondry, & found out that he directed quite a number of MTVs before. The Foo Fighter's everlong & Bjork's hyperballad are a couple of them. & he seems to incorporate in his work a lot of this idea on dream & reality intertwining with each other. A rather addictive concept.

Here's a clip from last sunday's show. Pepper live at The Fillmore with the Mad Caddies, the Supervillains & Splinta. It was a ska reggae punk show with leafy-smoke filled air. Excellent performances, deserving of its encore. All the bands got onstage together, Fat Mike made a surprise guest appearance & they covered NOFX's Eat the Meek! This was how it looked like from the stage.

Went to the nofx's concert at Slim's SF last wednesday night. I never once imagined i would ever get the chance to see them play live. It was certainly one of the highlights of my stay here. So sad that it is over :(
The rancid concert is also over, that was another surreal experience as well. hmm...there's nothing left to look forward to. sheeshh...well, except for the Vans Warped tour. but that's in july...

Robot Chicken.

So yesterday i saw my first movie star!! After being here for almost 4 months now, its about time. Seth Green (Dr Evil's son...muua muahahaa~) came down to the studio together with Matt Senreich, both responsible for the stop motion tv series, Robot Chicken. http://www.adultswim.com/shows/robotchicken/
Well i didn't actually get to see Seth upclose...saw him from around 20 metres away & I got some wooden structure infront of me blocking part of my view. The premier theatre was overly packed, that's why i had to settle for a 'behind the woods' kinda position. Yeah yeah lousy..but still, he's a star leii, can shine thru anithing one.

Anyways, they were down to screen their latest project...Robot Chicken Star Wars!! yeah balls~ I must say that i was blown away by it. It is filled with killa satire humour & i kept bursting out laughing scene after scene. The project seems so freeing. Its one of those "anything goes" kinda project i guess...not bogged down by the limitations, driven by creativity & seems like they had loads of fun workin on it.

Some of the stop motion animation looks amazinly smooth, almost to the point where i couldn't believe that it is stop motion. I especially like Jar Jar Binks &amp;amp; Boba Fett...ouu & that kid in the elevator as well. very nicely done. Here is one of the clips i managed to dig up from youtube:

There are a couple of pretty exciting events happening this weekend. Nope, i am not refering to the Singapore Idol audition. That thing just means that i have to stay away from cineleisure this Sat. So its a no no to movies at my favourite cinema. sadly.

Culture Universal Interviews DJ Rattle

Have you heard of him? You should have if you are into the local hip hop or DJ-ing scene. If not, well you might have seen him selling street wears in a shop at Queensway Shopping Centre. This humble guy, Dinesh or better known as Dj Rattle, had represented Singapore in the DMC World Supremacy for the past 2 years. He had actually got into the semi-finals, which no other local DJs in the past had managed or even came close to achieving. Risspekk!~ for bringing Singapore to the international stage.

Mind Game Madness.

What a movie…What a ride…What an experience!
It blew me away! Simply the greatest animation movie I’ve watched this year. It is madness I tell you…madness!!

I went to the screening of “Mind Game” last Saturday expecting a good show. I wasn’t disappointed. It was…& I quote from Nishi the main character, “…a rollercoaster ride with no brakes...” Every next scene is as engaging as the previous one. I never had to work my brain so hard in the theatres in a long while till last Saturday night. & if you are going to see the show, may I suggest not reading up on the movie’s review in the Animation Nation booklet. It will pretty much give away the plot of the story. Instead just go into the theatre with a question mark on your face & know that you are going to be taken for a ride. It is more fun that way.

The storytelling is just superb. It will make you have ‘dejavus’ throughout the show & those questionable scenes will start to connect & make sense. It’s genius how they are able to make that work. & the multitude of different animation style & art direction available in this movie is awesomely amazing. The clever use of music & colours just adds to the experience…Very inspiring! It is Monday nite & I am still abit high from the show. heh.

So if any of you is interested in catching this masterpiece on the big screen, you still have a chance to do so. There will be another screening this Wednesday night at the Singapore History Museum. I might be going, but it will have to depend on my OT schedule. Sheeshkabob!!

This mite be old news to some, but i'm sure many dun know abt it yet. Slipknot just had a concert in Singapore abt a month back, & guess wat?...quoted from blabbermouth.net "The band recorded its recent shows in Singapore, Las Vegas, and the Japanese cities of Tokyo and Osaka for a live CD/DVD package that's due out on November 1." Super cool rite? Hurhurhur...I am soo proud to say that i was present there that night for the concert. Simply put...its the best concert i've been to, & it had the best mosh pit i ever got slammed in. haaha.

Ou yea, & i must say this...before the concert, rahman n me somehow got ourselves backstage to use the toilet(security was wack that night). Backstage, we saw half the band sitting in a circle..all without their mask on!! We stand rooted there n stare at them as they just look back & continue with their own discussion. Joey was there with weights strapped to his ankle, Corey was there with his colourful hairstyle & we cld recognise dj sid, not too sure who the others are. This stoppid me didnt bring my camera & somehow my voice went missing. damnit. So yea then I waited for my turn to use the toilet. & out came Mick Thompson from the loo!! Wooa..i was peeing in the toilet right after Slpknot's #7 . That was so cool. & Mike was a really clean guy, not a single drop on the toilet bowl or any visible stain. heehe. Hmmm... its one of those moments i will never forget.

It certaintly got me charged up, so much so that i'll be goin down to the flea market tomorrow to look for my desk decor. havin too many toys on the desk is just not enuff heh.
